Bentwood Inn — Jackson Hole

Our Story

A house built
of second-chance timber.

The great room at Bentwood Inn

In 1988, two-thirds of Yellowstone burned. In 1995, the standing timber became a private home on four acres in the cottonwoods between Jackson and the Tetons — sixteen-inch logs hewn by hand, joined without nails, raised by a small crew that had worked the parks for a living.

The home opened to guests at the turn of the century. Three decades later, we are still small — seven rooms, one chef, one great room, one fire that's always going. We've added heated bathroom floors and high-speed Wi-Fi and a second hearth in the dining room, but the bones haven't moved.

What's changed most is who we are to the people who stay. The wedding party that comes back for the anniversary. The photographer who books the same room every September. The family that brings the next generation, then the next. We didn't plan to be that kind of place. We are anyway.
